For the convenience of the board public I'm going to make a pinnable post, listing all the common 3rd party tools or documentations for Furcadia along with links to their present location. This post should help people find the tools they might be looking for and have found no clear references yet. The list is categorized and sorted in alphabetical order.

Last Update: 10.Aug.2010 @ 22:45 FST

Proxies
  1. Dog Proxy (Discontinued)
A Furcadia proxy created by sanctimonious, DEP programmer, featuring an away system, dream navigator, friend list, a whisper center, easy switching between characters, beekin channel support, easy configuration, etc.
Discontinued since the Whisper Update (0.27)

  2. FoxyProxy Classic
A proxy written by Zarneth that features multiple connections, custom away messages, online detector, lag meter, whisper handling along with an option to disable them completely, extensive options to make everything just the way you want it and a debugging console to see the raw data between the client and server.

  3. Furnarchy2
Furnarchy is a one-of-its-kind proxy that attaches to Furcadia itself and provides 3rd party developers a kind of plugin interface to the client! The proxy is fully modular and its features depend on what modules or scripts do you have and want to use. Its basic modules feature an away system, object locator, friend list, custom portraits for all the module users and countless other features. The proxy was written by Cluracan, modules can be written by anyone and now it's even scriptable for easier development!

  4. Kapow! <http://www.kapow.ca.kz/> (Discontinued, Not Available)
A very young proxy created by Shaun Dreclin after the Kitterwing Update and might still be in beta stages. The proxy features an AFK system, furre cloning, instant movement, shout channel auto-activation, online notification and more.

  5. Mreow! Proxy <http://www.splotched.com> (Not Available)
MreowProxy, written by Rey, features a rather compact installation, multi-connection support, per-character configuration, automatic update notification, a whisper center, away system, dream locator, colorcode cloning capability (SS feature) and may even contain a few hidden features... ;)

  6. PawProxy
PawProxy, written by Daiktana, features a whisper center, contact list, intelligent spam filter, news ticker, an I/O console, automated AFK message service, and more.
Bots
  1. FurBot
This application, originally written by sanctimonious and currently maintained by Dream Dancer of ADM, allows you to spawn an automatic client (a bot) that can be programmed to do things such as automatic responses to text, database management (banking, fighting, etc.), message delivery and so forth. This program was used in many dreams as bartenders and other "player NPCs". The bot uses a language similar to DragonSpeak, thus being more familiar to those who deal with bot maintenance for the first time.

  2. Silver Golem <http://sg.comicentendre.com/> (Not Available)
Silver Golem is an open-source botmaking client written in Visual Basic and officially maintained by Comic Entendre. It is planned to be the safest, easiest, and most capable botmaking client ever released, featuring an interface similar to Furcadia's and a scripting language called GolemSpeak (which is visually and functionally similar to DragonSpeak) to control the user's bot.
Project website is no longer available.
Tools
  1. Association of Dream Makers
Home page of the Dream Makers Guild, a good resource site for dream-weaving and home of several tools such as FurBot, FoxEdit, etc. Site and tools maintained by Dream Dancer.

  2. Artex' Software and Scripts
Here I keep links to small .NET programs that I make for personal use and practice mostly. Some of these programs might end up being useful in dream recovery or load analysis.

  3. Mercenary Enclave Productions
Home page of Syphor Knight (aka: Lothus Marque), featuring various useful Furcadia tools for dreamweaving and graphics, the famous Patch Fusion application among them. For more information on each tool, visit the website!

  4. Niko's Mouse House
The website features three tools that can greatly assist one in patch-making: Color Changer that allows you to change entire color ranges on patch items, letting you recolour objects with ease, Floor Tile Maker that helps one create Furcadia floors from texture images and Wall Editor that helps you build and generate Furcadia walls from various textures.

  5. DragonSpeak Tools
    1. Draconian Magic
This is a Dragon Speak Wizard with scripting capabilities. Draconian Magic allows you to share snippets with other while giving a step by step Variable input capability. This method reduces typo errors by spitting out a script to the specification you put in. Draconian Magic supports the same scripts Draconic Magician and Dragon Speak Constructor use while providing the extra capability to change the output coordinates by a given number of spaces in a given direction. What this means is that you can use fewer number of input Variables to output an increased range of possibilities.
    2. DragonSpeak Variable Counter (Discontinued)
A little web-script I (Artex) made to count the amount of variables used by a DS script, show their names, their supposed low-level address and how many times they were mentioned in the script. Can prove useful in checking your DS for excess variables and which ones would exceed the limit, causing an issue. Source code included.
    3. DSB to Plaintext Converter
A simple open-source command-line tool by Kylix that can recover unencrypted DSB files back into their original readable form. Works on Windows and Linux and supports 64bit platforms. Great disaster-recovery tool.
  6. DreamWeaving Tools
    1. Dreamer
An alternate dream editor, developed by Reunion, originally known for his DragonSpeak editor shipped with Furcadia. It contains many features the Furcadia Dream Editor might be missing along with a properly functional walkthrough!
    2. <http://cypresshomes.ath.cx/yade/> (Discontinued, Not Available)
Yet Another Dream Editor is a fresh out of the programming oven dream editor made by Treeki that aims to provide various improvements to the now-outdated Dreamer and expand the features it has. Powered by .NET Framework 2.0, it is very small in size and offers the following features among the rest: scrollable object selector, handy key shortcuts, copy positions with CTRL+Click, panel-based interface (see two different places at once), full support for FOX and FSH files, object picking with right mouse button and an easy setup. If you seek an alternative to the official Dream Editor, you should definitely check this out!
  7. Miscallaneous Tools
    1. FurcBack
A tiny little tool which checks the Furcadia server to see which ports are accepting logins. If they're offline it will check every 5 seconds and notify you when the ports/server are accepting login. Does not require input of your username or password. It doesn't actually log into the server so no sensitive data is passed through the client. A useful tool to verify server availability, accessible/inaccessible ports, etc.
Resources
  1. Furbot Development Department
A site dedicated to Furbot and other useful tools made by Dream Dancer. The site contains downloads, tutorials and samples for the Furbot and should be your first place to start from as a Furbot user.

  2. Furcadia Dev Center
A collection of official Furcadia technical documents regarding updates, and the home of PhoenixSpeak Parser ActiveX control.

  3. Furcadia Technical Resources (FTR)
A web page maintained by myself (Artex) that is slowly collecting information and bringing it up to date. The site (or its classic version below) features most of the publicly known client-to-server commands and server-to-client instructions from the Furcadia communication protocol, as well as some documentation about the color string, movement and coordination, static dream (`gomap/`fdl) table and tools such as the base95/base220 converter.
    • Classic FTR - The previous version of the site that might still have useful data

  4. Furcadia Wiki
The Furcadia Wiki is an ever-growing unofficial resource site that currently contains a lot of technical ifnormation about Furcadia, most of the file format documentation, gameserver and fileserver communication protocol specs, DragonSpeak tricks, patching help and many more. The wiki is open and maintained by the community itself.
NOTE: Due to its open nature, be careful when browsing to off-site links in that Wiki! They could be maliciously placed.

  5. Furcadian.net
Home page of Kamose that features her art, a gallery with images of the default tags, avatars, portraits and more. It also contains resources for beekins (and namely the welcomers), visual maps of main dreams and a link collection of her own.

  6. Trek's Furcadia Protocol Documentation
A resource site for the Gameserver and the Fileserver protocols explained in more detail than the ordinary FTR site or alike. The protocol there lacks a few instructions, but the explanations presented there should help one get a better understanding on how the protocol works and get familiar with it more for the other documentations here.

  7. Ye Olde Bot Shoppe
A website made by Maramon, aimed to help beginners getting started with FurBot. It contains lessons on how to make a new bot, make the bot respond to whoever whispers it, a tutorial on how to use databases with FurBot and a Sign Tutorial.
Alternative Clients and Development Tools
  1. Furcadia Framework for Third Party Programs
Furcadia Framework is a RAD library for third party developers. Developed in .NET, it can be used with any .NET language (C#, VB.NET, C++, BOO, etc). Intended for use on multiple platforms. If you are a .NET programmer, this library may give you a quick start in making .NET applications for Furcadia!

  2. libFINF (Discontinued)
libFINF (FINF Is Not Furcadia) is a C++ library developed by Golden Hawk, Kunnis and Morpius and aimed to assist a software developer in creation of any kind of cross-platform application related to Furcadia - bots, proxies and alternative clients. The library requires quite a lot of updates since it's apparently no longer in development, but can aid one in understanding how to work with Furcadia, its files and the communication protocol. Note that libFINF is not intended for non-developer use, so if you seek an alternative client or something to use rather than work on, this is not it!

  3. mFurc <http://www.ghosttiger.com/mfurc/> (Discontinued, Not Available)
A fully functional Furcadia client for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, designed by Ghost Tiger. It offers you all the basic functionality of your Furcadia client along with additional features and some integration with your Mac OS. Being a native Mac application, this client is very fast and provides a true solution to Furc users on Macs. For more information, check out the website! Discontinued - Furcadia will now be provided with a customized wine build to run on Macs.

  4. PFurc
PFurc is a plugin for the multi-messenger Pidgin that allows you to connect to Furcadia. It allows you to add buddies to your buddy list and chat with them using Furcadia's whisper system, similar to other solutions provided by Furcadia proxies. This plugin allows you to access Furcadia as if it's a regular Instant Messaging service like MSN, ICQ, which Pidgin also supports among all the rest.

  5. RGLibFurc (Discontinued)
libfurc is a library created by Malverian that allows easy creation of bots, proxies, clients, and other miscellaneous tools for Furcadia. The library basicly allows Perl scripters to code their own Furcadia bots without the need to write everything from scratch. LibFurc provides the basis for any interaction with the Furc server, thus saving lots of time when it comes to making a Furcadia bot. You've got to know Perl in order to make use of this library.
Discontinued, but Malverian works on something better!

  6. YIFFurc <http://www.heroinpuppy.com/forums/YaBB.cgi?num=1159017471> (Not Available)
YIFFurc (YIFFurc Is For Furcadia) is a growing collection of Furcadia-specific routines in a hopefully cross-platform C library. Furnarchy uses it to do a lot of its dirty work. It can decode and encode a lot of bidirectional traffic and can do other nice things like help you with client authentication. The docs are also a nice reference for network traffic regexes.

Note: The information here may become outdated and URLs may change with time. The information is known to be valid at the time this post was made, but if it no longer isn't, please let me know. Also, let me know if you have a tool that is unlisted here along with information about where can it be found.

Note: There is no point looking for tools that decode/decrypt Furcadia files in this post - even if references to those would be added, DEP would edit them out of here, so don't even bother. ;)

Warning: Don't forget that these are links to the websites outside Furcadia and are not managed neither by me (well, only one or two ;), nor by DEP. They can be considered safe, but don't blame anyone here if one day you find out you've been had by a web exploit on one of those sites. :)

Note to moderators: If you edit this post, please let me know about this or your changes will be undone next time I update the list! I don't edit the list - I replace it with newer ones from an automatic program!

Added D.W.A.R.F to the Tools section, hid the `Home Page` URLs to make the list less hostile-looking and added brief description to every tool from what I've learnt about them so people won't blindly be looking at names not knowing what's what.

Hope you like =]

Topic pinning is still in question.

Nikodemus's Utilitys -- Homepage

Includes 'Color Changer' (the old way to change colours. Some find it easier to use then the FSH editor. This program inspired the FSH Editor's colourswapper feature)

Floor Tile Maker - Use a GIF, BMP, PNG or JPG image file of any size to make a floor out of it. Can "imprint" the floors onto a FSH File for easy creation. Also removes any accidental offsets and allows for a huge selection. Even has a downloadable Texture Pack with hundreads of examples.

Wall Editor - Similar to D.W.A.R.F/Wall Maker program; But allows you to choose wall shapes, overlays, textures and shapes onto the wall. An easy way to add windows or even glass-panels to the wall. Again allows you to use virtually any image file to create a wall out of it.

The Silver Golem site (I own it) is currently down, due to my host having some problems with my jbah.1.vg subdomain.
Also, the homepage is not http://www.jbah.1.vg - this is my website's homepage.

Well, it would be useful if you'd tell what is the home page then...

I don't give too much attention to what the true home page for a tool is, I commonly just add a root URL there since it's ought to either describe the site the tool belongs to or at least its maker. In your particular case it seemed like the home of the tool was the forum itself, not talking about the fact that the original website of SG (overmynd) regretably no longer exists... I really didn't know where to direct people - forums are a dynamic medium...

Due to the outage of JouwNaam's SG forum, I formed a small mirror page with version 0.9.24 (+ source) where you can download it from. Should anyone have anything more serious for SilverGolem, please let me know.

The page can be found here and in the main list above.

I documented a decent chunk of the main server protocol and part of the file server protocol a while back:

http://www.neoclaw.net/projects/furccomm/

It mainly sees updates when I've got time to work on Furc3D2... which isn't a whole lot lately, but this summer it should see a lot of work again.

First of all, for those who haven't noticed, Trek's page has been silently added to the Resources section quite a while ago.

The recent modification has updated the URL for FoxyProxy which is now maintained by XiMM on a different website. The project is no longer in a "Discontinued" state, so check it out, see what's different. ;)

I've also added Kamose' website to the resource section. It's not as tech-oriented, but it contains content that's not otherwise available on any other resources that could be of help.

Pretty much all the changes for now. As always, you are encouraged to update me on what's going on with the existing sites or sites I have not added still, for I can't track all of the changes on my own.

Have fun... ;)

Added the Alternative Clients & Tools section where all your projects related to making a Furcadia client or other related applications should go to. If you are aware of (or are working on) a project that is aimed to become an alternative client, is a library or some sort of base for that, this would be a great place to put it to, so please let me know.

So far the section contains Ghost Tiger's mFurc - a Furcadia client for Mac OS X and libFINF.

[ Edit @ Apr28 ]: Added Malverian's libfurc site to the section.

Let's see what I can do with a decent description for Silver Golem:

Silver Golem is a botmaking client that uses a scripting language called GolemSpeak (which is visually and functionally similar to DragonSpeak) to control the user's bot (or golem, as they're called in relation to Silver Golem). The user interface of Silver Golem mimics Furcadia's user interface to give the user a feeling of famliarity and helps the user to know where things are located.
While Silver Golem is still in the developmental stages, it's planned to be the safest, easiest, and most capable botmaking client ever released. It is open source so any Visual Basic programmers wanting to provide their skills and talents to its progression are invited to do so. Any official release of Silver Golem that uses another person's code is carefully checked for safety reasons by Comic Entendre to ensure there is no malicious code and all official releases are hosted by Comic Entendre on his website and the links are posted by him on the Silver Golem Development Forums.

Well it's not my fault the official site was taken down and no description was found in cache, Google or any pages/forums dedicated to SG, is it? ;)

I will have to reform it so it doesn't take as much space while linking to this post for more info (like I did with some others).

Just FYI here, my RGLibFurc libraries come with a fully functional proxy (coined Da'Proxy) that is very easy to use. I actually compile Windows binaries for this and the example bot program (Da'Bot') whenever I make major updates in SVN so that it is easier for people to make use of it. There is a list of features and setup instructions here!

Friday the 13th! Love such days... ;)

Anyway, today I've updated the links to Furnarchy2 which seemed not to work anyway, as well as adding the PatchMerger reference for those who still would like to use it and Syphor's home page where he has some other Furc projects. It's been a while and should there be something to update, correct or modify, PM me.
