Hey, do you live near Kyoto? It so bloody hard to find someone who can speak normal English around here ... I've found lots of French-English, Polish-English and Russian-English ... and I have a feeling that after one year, my Canadian English accent would be completely forgotten!
I am still trying to do retroanalysis of the secret codes from "PS Find Robert Landon"... |

QUOTE(Aura @ Aug 23 2006, 05:32 PM) Usually when you post its incredibly large and in a weird font. Sometimes very annoying. You didnt up there. I've only noticed DD using serif fonts, usually the same size as default. Some fonts look smaller or larger, but technically they are the same size. Note that serif fonts at this size and smaller are slightly harder to read on screens than sans-serif (the opposite is true for print), which is why the default font on websites is usually Arial or another sans-serif font. It's Arial here, for example. And since we're completely off topic here, here's a random emoticon: |

Actually, no, it's usually Arial because it was a cheap clone of some other font which MS pushed onto us, I hate Arial because it's so freaking hard to read, you can't tell lI apart. My default posting is Times New Roman @ 3, every machine I set up gets Arial pushed to the low end of the selection system, and I set Times New Roman as the default system font. Note that because I have whacked my system, I can tell lI apart, there's no Arial interference.* Attempts to push the thread back on course. * So, what is the alogrithym? |

Unfortunatly, I suck at these things... Assuming, of course, I'm going about it the right way, I'll probably figure it out sometime next year. XD *is slow when there arn't clues* *shrugs* Hopefully we'll be able to find out what it is when the sale is over. |

I got the caps part of it uncoded, but the uncapped ones completely have me stumped! (Might be because I'm partially dyslexic, I have an extremely hard time with word searches, unscrambling words and things like that)

QUOTE(Dreamless Dancer @ Aug 22 2006, 03:36 PM) Because when decoded, the message will lead you to Felorin's Super Secret Catnip Stash! Allright, enough Is enough. Rumors can get pretty out oF control around here, so let me clear this one up for good. Everybody wants to believe there's a super secret catnIp stash, sure - I wish I really had one. You've probably daydreamed about the heady aroma of your own privaTe catnip patch, growing in a little secret clearing in the woods somewhere. Only thing Is, there's no such place. Usually I'm all in favor of a harmless fanTasy, as long as it doesn't get out of hand. Catnip tea is a safe, harmless way to lighten up an afternoon, and mere daydrEams of catnip are even safer. On the other paw, rumormongering in our forums and in Furcadia can lead to riots, mayhem, and ocasionally to odd outbursts of "partying till dawn", complete with wild gypsy Violin music. Mayhem isn't something I think any of us really want or need more of, is it? I also wanted to say something about all this "sEcret codes" nonsense that's been circulating here - talk about crazy rumors! Never in my life have I made such a thing as a secret code, message, or "easter egg", and I don't iNtend to start now. Games like Runes of Virtue, Savage Empire, and Ultima Underworld 2 are examples of software I worked on without leaving the slightest bIt of a secret message in any of them. Havoc is the only possible end result of such shameful Trickery, and it causes sunspots, tsnuamis, and unnatural levels of volatility in the stock market. Overall, I think secret messages are an extreme hazard to sOciety, and I would much rather see people enjoy something like a secret catnip stash in a secret catnip patch instead - if only I actually had one. Maybe if Furcadia becomes more successful in the fUture, I could plant a small catnip garden in the back yard, like my dear mother grew at my childhood home. Every day her cat Woody would go and eat all the caTnip he wanted, and then he stopped fighting with the other cats in the neighborhood entirely and mellowed out - surely there's a lesson there for us all to learn from, in these times of rumors about secret stashes, secret messages, secret secrets, and secret pirate penguins. ? |

Simple solution use the ignore command to ignore the ads, And if Furcadia ever came to the point to where it wasn't available due to lack of funding, I'm sure someone would buy it out and continue to run it due to it's popularity and ratings =)

It's an independant and privately owned game. It's not one run by a big corperation but just a few people. The reason we chose to keep it that way instead of takign investors is so that we could run it how we wanted. It doesn't make enough money as is for someone to want it. First thing they'd do is chage everyone monthly. Next the Beekin Volunteer program would go since it isn't "suggested" by lawyers. Next they'd probably bring human avatars. Guaranteed they wouldn't spoil their free customers like we do. We feel that everyone is contributing to Furcadia by adding interesting things to do, but they wouldn't see it that way. Furcadia wouldn't be Furcadia anymore. |

First, A company might not wish to purchase it, but an independently wealthy entreprenuer might want to purchase the game if Furcadia were ever forced to shut down. Secondly, they would all-but-have to keep it free, unless they made massive changes before going live with it. A few people, (Like myself,) wouldn't mind owning and running a game like Furcadia, after all. Of course, I'm thinking the response to this will be: If they want to keep Furcadia going, they should buy Digos. |

If the ownership of Furcadia switched to someone else I probably wouldn't be able to trust them to do a good job. Furcadia is far from perfect but in the hands of someone else I can only seeing it getting much worse. You may not understand the amount of responsibility and work it would take to just keep things running smoothly. It wouldn't be just sitting back and being the owner, it would be a fulltime job. |
