I think that beekins should have their own avatars, that work in every dream. Thank make them look totally different from any other furre.  Like the little help dragons on the welcome map? Or something else thats really cool. It can be if they want to look like it, then they type something while on duty, and they change, and then they can change back also. For those beekins that like the way they are. So its another way of thanking all the hardworking beekins. So? good idea? or no?

Maybe it can beek for any beekin, not onduty? Or something. I dont know. What do yall think?  se.gif

I think rewarding Beekins is a bad idea.  They're supposed to be there to help, not to get badges or special avatars, or etc.

I agree with Leticia about it being a bad idea. First of all you'd probably get plenty of beekins with the holier-than-thou attitude because they have the cool avatar and the 'normals' have not. Second of all you'd probably get an in-flux of furres who want to be a beekin just for the 'free avatar'. And third of all, being on the same level as the one you're helping is probably a very good thing for the helper/helpee 'relationship' and a custom beekin avatar will completely destroy that effect.

I agree with Aki Ross.I mean, they need some reward for the work they do...and we'd be able to tell if theyre a beekin and ask for help....shame we can't do that in real life with the police.

You don't need to visually locate a Beekin to ask for help.  You can simply type "help I need an explanation of blah, can someone help me?"

That's much easier that having to look around and hope a Beekin has their avatar on.  Considering there are folks around who make it their life goal to harrass Beekins, I can't see why they'd want to go around and show it off.  (Not to mention the folks that would come and pester them for help when they were offduty and wanted to talk to their friends.)

Badges were removed from everything Beekins said for a reason; it helped prevent badge flashing - but more importantly, accusations of badge flashing.  When a channel-beekin is sitting around chatting with friends, an innocent statement that's totally innocent and just a polite request takes on "I /am/ the boss of you" overtones if they are obviously Beekin-ish.

And since they're not, said Beekin gets reported and gets in trouble.

Also, that Beekin you want to ask for help might be busy helping someone else!  Now, how would you like it if you called into a help channel and were following a proper procedure for getting help and your helping Beekin was usurped by someone who flounced up and sat beside them and started going "Help meeee!  I know you're a Beekin!"

And as for rewarding Beekins, let me repeat again... that's not the point of having Beekins.  Beekins are not better than anyone else or special.  They volunteer their time because they want to help Furcadia and Furcadians, not because they want shiny badges or pretty avatars or MAD POWERZ.

Changing that would be pretty disasterous for the Beekin program, I'd think.

I think Beekins should have Guardian powers, instead. If someone bothers them for being a Beekin, bam! Banned for life! Heck, if someone even -looks- at them funny, there's grounds for ejection from Furc right there!

I agree with Graphite, they'd just become Beekins to use the avatar..

Leticia's second post pretty much sums up why Beekins don't have anything that makes them specifically stand out in a crowd.

Hmm, i dont know if what i really wanted to say was said.

Umm, If a beekin is out around furcadia, and they are onduty, then arnt they there to help the furres that come up to them? Umm? hmm, how can I word this.... I guess, if it was a avatar they they could turn on and off while onduty, would that make any difference? So if they wanted to, they could be like "hey look over here im here to help you" or something like that. And if a beekin didnt want to be like that, then they would have it off? or something?

Hmm, I dont know if that would change anything? Oh, and I would like that thank all of you. Ive never put anything on the forum before, and I think this is really cool.

Is there anything else i want to add? Hmmm.... I wish i could say more, but some people would yell at me. So, I guess thats it. What do yall think?

Just make it for those beekins that are in an area, that want to help people. Its not really much different from the help desk, right? I mean, if someone is on the other side of the desk, that means that they are there to help, correct? Well, why not make something like that, but with avatars for other beekin groups that want to help people while around furcadia. Cause its a no no for someone that isnt a deskie to be at the help desk that doesnt need help. (hehee sorry, i just remember some stuff) Or maybe the beekins should have an area or something in New Haven to help furres, or something? maybe? no? I dont know. Tell me what yall think.

Your suggested changes don't really impact anything new,  so I'd have to say it's still not at wise idea for the same reasons as before.  Giving beekins extras that make them noticable just isn't going to happen very often (if at all.)  It might be a better idea to think of a different suggestion.

Being a Beekin myself, I find reward in helping other furres OFFICIALLY.

And the badges still show up in descriptions, ya'know. It's not like we go around saying "Hi, I'm a beekin" because their badges are missing.
