More Money for Furcadia, Custom Avatars Options

I think, if furcadia were to allow for custom avatars as it does portraits then they'd rake in loads of cash. Mainly furres will be paying for space, but also more so Dragons Eye makes profit. It shouldn't be cheap, but I think it would be good if it were there. I'd 2 if they had that It may also mean new commissions for some of you artists

You might want to try a search for custom avatar.
there was a strong backing to this previously but it was denied.

Custom avatars will, indeed, take a while to download, slow down everything if someone with one comes along on screen, and clutter up everyone's temporary folders with lots of unneeded wibblywongs. Where did I pick that up again?

Come, lets not be angry with someone for answering the question, even if it's been answered 20 times before, and at least once by me.  :)

The reason custom avatars are a bad idea is that they require 20 images not 1.

Meaning they're bigger.  Meaning they take more space not only on the furcadia server but also the viewer's computer, and more bandwidth too.  Plus, you only see the person's portrait when you click on them or look at them - generally one at a time.  Logging on and landing in an area with two or three people with custom avatars could take a while to load up before you could see anything.

Going back off topic...  Calling someone an idiot because they are discussing something that has been previously discussed is... well, rather idiotic. I really don't see why you felt it necessary to include that final word in your post, Saji.

The fact is, insulting and name-calling have appeared in many, many more threads around these forums than discussion of this particular topic has, so really you are the one who is being the most redundant here.

Going back on topic... If we can't have full custom avatars, how about just custom ears? I don't think the rodent ears are big enough!

But should there be a ghost avatar created so you know that the new player is customised.

using this capacity in dreams would be interesting.
It may allow for some nice effects.

Or should we have to go into a dream, just like the "Bunny custom avatar" works now?

I think it would be fun to have that, but I see eeryone's point about it taking up alot of space/bandwidth/memory or whatever....
