Well, I was sitting a'pondering in Naia, finishing off my desc.. My character, Zelle, is a ferret, standing at merely one foot tall, and it struck me.. Wouldn't it be cool to be able to change the avatar's sizes? Like, through the Furre editor, specifying the size of the character by clicking little arrows, with a reset button for the default size if all goes wrong? Obviously, changing the size of the avatar on screen, with minimum and maximum sizes, etc?

Not exactly saying it would work.. might do with vector imaging, or whatever. I dunno.. Just a random thought ^^

It seems like an okay idea. But it should really wait untill a long way away when they make the three dimensional avatars (and I don't think that will happen very soon).

Vector imaging would really delay upgrades to the game and take a lot of time to change everything around for a small customisable thing. There are other things that Furc probebly would rather hurry to adding. Like RGB colour. cat-flirty.gif Not that it's not a good idea. I just can't see it being very practical.

As an artist, I think that just "resizing" everything would make things look weird.

For example, for most cases, when you shrink a character, the head portion is usually the part that has a lesser percentage of being shrunk, relative to the rest of the body. In simpler words, if the body is shrunk by 50%, the head is usually shrunk by 20%.

That would be a interesting idea, it be cool to see the furres display their actual size. However, in my ventures in roleplaying I have come across some that are nearly 10 ft or even taller so I could see where that might create a issue as opposed to even the downsizing. Could you imagine a 14 ft tall lapine walking around? That would be a interesting day indeed. biggrin.gif

There's a patch on the Furcadia Patch Archive with a "mini player patch" where all default player patches are shrunken. It looks terrible, and to make it look all nice would be even MORE work.

Now.. that is an interesting tid-bit.. but, I don't want to mess with fur's who seem bigger then me :/ I feel quite.. unconfertable.. It's bad enough Felorin was standing over my shoulder one day, making me nervous! Geez, some privacy please? xD Anyways, Zelle, that is interesting.. resizable avatars... Possible? Probably very improbable, as much improbable as a rotating camera tongue.gif

Bwahaha. This maybe the first suggestion of mine that HASNT been laughed out of the forums. XD

Guess it's a viable suggestion, would make a neat little feature. But I guess there'd be limits ot how big or small a furre can go.

We don't want Furzilla tearing up AI anytime soon.

Well, actually it's not viable as things are, but it's fun to think about. That would only be possble after we have 3D avatars and even then the resizing could easily distort the art. Also, we'd probably have to set certain different pre-approved sizes. It's likely that we will add props the the game; clothes, things to carry, etc. They would have to be drawn to look right when a furre is holding or wearing them. If the furre is resized the prop placement could start looking really bad. However, yes, it's fun to think about and would be nice if possible. :)

Emmie, side note/question: Would making 3D Avatars cause the downloading of Furcadia larger? ^.^

Every time we add anything it makes the download larger. However, we still have the smallest download by a long shot of any game out there. We have good programmers that pay attention to these things.

The main trouble about getting the 3D avatars is the amount of money it will take to get them all made and implemented. Every avatar would have to be remodeled in 3D and there will have to be the programming done to make it all work. We'd have to hire several more people. We actually thought we were almost at that point a couple of years ago. Then we had the paypal crash and we are still having troubles paying the people we already have.

as to the size of a download.. it is possible to create downloads that merely change the items that have changed in the update... ie/ adding DS as well as patch items.

I would suppose that the initial download of a 3d version of Furcadia would be large but updates would merely require changes or additions...similar to when WoW does their updates...

As a rule, Furcadia's programmers have done an EXCEPTIONAL job maintaining it with minimal downloads. THIS is VERY appreciated.

i'm thinking it's to make the avvy as small as possable in order to use it to block roads or something.

In the end it's more of a pain than it's worth

Hm, guess they'd have to work on limits, restrictions, etc.

Guess it'd make a neat feature, if anyone wants it, some day :3
