 Ok, this is a small thing that is extremely optional, but would be nice to have. It's another piece of criteria for when someone is making a character, AGE! Such as, the older the furre the older the furre looks in his portrait and in his player, and vice versa. I know it would be a lot of work, you would have to make about a bizillion different player patches, so I seriously doubt this will be in the next update

It could be interesting to have some child avatars, tho... unless one categorizes "old" as bent over, with a cane... well, anyway, interesting idea but, for the portraits you could do that now if you wanted, with a portrait space?

I've seen child avatar patches. Very very nice. But that's a whole 6 or 7 (I forget how many species there are) avatars to make.

Child avatars would require... 420 bitmap frames to be done.
It's hard enough to do 20 frames and not quit. Or 100 frames (a wings patch).... 420? Sheesh. |

I think A avatar should be made. It would be much smaller then the others and if it were covered up mostly then it could pass for any species. And the portrait could be a bit cartoony-ish so it could pass for any species. I'm happy this has been brought up 'cause tho i do not feel there is a need for elder avatar(s), i feel there should be a child avatar. Just because it's weird to see these adult avatars that host such young characters.

What about download time? Take all the furc avatar and portrait files, and tripple them. 2.55mb 2.55 for young 2.55 for elders Totaling? 7.65mb When I had dial up connection, how long did it take me to download 1 mb? 20 minutes. Get the picture? |

Or, of course, you can scale the bitmaps (and offsets) when drawing. No more download sizes, just a bit of programming.
I tried it with my isometric engine, it works very well with little change - but really, there seems no point. |

I downloaded furc for my friend.. and it doesn't JUST depend on the speed of your connection.. but the computer as well.
For her download.. I started it around 8:30 PM.. she said it wasn't finished when she got up the next morning.. but after a short time after waking.. it finally got done. I'd figure it took them about 7 or 8 hours. And.. honestly... I dont' think there should be children but okay.. even if there are people that want.. for who knows what reason.. to play a baby.. or young child.. get a portrait space. Doing all the avatars for babies, then for old and dying.. Ugh. Create a patch for it, and use it in your default. |

That baby avatar thing might actually be a working idea for some future time.. Like they said at the town meeting, when Furcadia's avatars go 3D they will be able to add many more things at a fraction of the space cost (concerning avatars), so when that does happen this idea would probably work fairly easy.
