Ferians Are Official, Read the Dragonlands Continuity Options

Pardon me for speaking up but I felt I was seeing "ferals in an ANTHRO game is stupid!" waaaay too often on these boards. All avatars are based on the rules in the Dragonlands continuity from what I can see, and Ferians exist just fine.

I've never seen such a harsh backlash from an avatar before, sheesh.

Can't we all just get along? Really?

Really, I think they recently added that. I think talz said a while ago that she still has to add the ferians into the dragonlands thingy. The avatar itself looks good but I'm not really into all those feral-dreams. Also, I don't have real problems with ferians on mainmaps.

There are tons of feral dreams, that means DEP noticed this and tried to start adding avatars that a lot of players would like. It's a good thing that they're paying attention to their fanbase, don't you think?

Yes, in fact half the dreams in Furcadia are four-legged oriented. It would have just been bad business not to respond to this. We love animals and most of our players do too, so it makes sense that many would like to look a bit closer to their favorite pet or wild animal. "Ferians" have long been in the backstory as shape changers and lycanthians, if you read through all the old material you will see. However, it *is* Talzie who writes our backstory and considering that we are still alpha, adding to that backstory is very valid still. I adore the story that she wrote to give you all a feel for how the Wolven Ferian can fit in. You can expect to see more Ferian species in the future. Purrrsonally I'm really looking forward to the big cats! :)

*grins* I still think it's very ironic that Dr. Cat (Felorin) is allergic to cats ;p He still loves them though, he just has to wash his hands a lot when petting them! He's even allergic to tigers and other big cats.

I love leopards, I collect leopard spots, but really, I didn't want to fade into the crowd as a feline avatar, so I play a rodent.

In a game called FURcadia, humans would be totally out of place and inappropriate. If you want to play as a human, you can. If you want your avatar to reflect that, you can download one of the human patches floating around. Regardless of how much money the could make selling it, if Dragon's Eye Productions were to add human avatars, it would be completely self-serving and spineless on their part, and would demolish the basic premise of this game.

That card has been pulled time and again, and to the same effect as now, man. Felorin said they weren't making a "Furry Game" it just had "Animals" for avatars. Hyoomans, (humans) are, I believe, in the Dragonlands backstory as history and legend. You're misguided on what the basic principle and purpose of this game is, good buddy. It's to have fun, and get something of an escape. "Let your imagination Soar" isn't the same thing as "Let your imagination Soar... just so long as it soars the way we want it to."

DEP is a business, and they need to think like a business. Just like Blizzard does, and Microsoft, and Google. They're all business people and their first concern should be the bottom line. It's not here, though. Be thankful for that.
