If you've ever been to FurN you'll have noticed that a majority of the people found there are lesbians or bisexual women with female preferances. I've come to the conclusion that many of these people are 12 year old little boys in real life, considering the fact that the numbers just don't even out with how things really are in the real world...

If we went by the Furcadia statistics, half of the population would be composed of homosexual males and females.

Speaking as one, I'd like to know where they all got to. o.O
Seriously though, that sounds like almost-resentful crap. There are a lot more bisexual females around than lesbians in Furrabia, but that's about it. |

No, Maladai has it spot on, Morp. He didn't mention the proportion of homosexual males to females. Just that their combined population would be comparable to the straight demographic.
Although, I think, rather than 12 year-old boys, it's divorced, middle-aged men that're the culprits. This post has been edited by Cluracan Registered Wrong: Aug 8 2002, 03:16 AM |

It could be middle aged men and their 12 year old children

I've been studying this closely for a long while. I've taken note of the trend of RPers, what they are OOCly, et cetera. So far, I've come up with these stats:
80% of gay male characters are actually straight or bisexual girls in real life. So far, I have only met one that I am entirely certain is a guy in real life. 75% of the lesbian characters are actually straight or bisexual guys in real life. 50% of the bisexual females are bisexual girls in real life. 50% of the bisexual females are guys in real life. Their preference, however, is unknown to me. 80% of the bisexual male characters are actually straight/bisexual girls in real life. I haven't observed anything involving straights, because I'm a bit heterophobic. However, Judging by the information I've collected, I think it might be right to assume that at least a few of the straight male characters are actually lesbians in real life, and one or two of the straight female characters are gays in real life. What conclusion can we draw from this? Well, I've been asking around, and the trend is: for some reason, lots of guys find it more fun to play as girl characters, and lots of girl characters (especially anime fans) find it lots of fun to play as male characters. I'm not entirely certain -why-, and neither are they. Really, it's just something interesting to think about. ^_^ Nowadays, usually when I meet a gay furre, I ask them OOCly if they're a guy or a girl. Only one of them was really a guy- and to tell you the truth, I was very surprised to be told that. o_O Just somethin' to think about next time your character gets in a relationship with someone *smirk* |

How did I come up with those numbers? Easy. I RP a lot in FurN, see. And, being heterophobic, I tend to stay well away from the breeders. After a month or so of RPing, I got interested in whether the people I was RPing with were really guys in real life. When I realized that NONE of them were, I started collecting data. Now, what I have written up on here is a rough estimate, but I'm willing to bet it's pretty dang close to the actual numbers.

Hrm.. I have a male character, Cloven, who is gay. I don't RP him that much anymore. I don't "yiff" with him. I don't "yiff" period. But before I would RP with anyone, I would tell them that Cloven is played by a female in RL, just so they would know.
To me it really doesn't matter who is behind the character, age or sex.. The only thing that does is how they RP it. |

I'd be interested to know what kind of numbers you would get if you took a poll of the Forum members. It would be interesting to know what percentage of our fellow forum members are as badly screwed up as me. %}

Most of the time I get a "vibe" from male-playing-female genderbenders. Mostly, the only ones that are obvious are the ones who play a very sexual character but are vehemently against having sex relations with males. Still, most were kind enough to admit they were genderbending when asked about it through OOC means. These situations weren't in furc however and as most people know, homosexuality and bisexuality are pretty common here in the furry comunity.
Still, being an avid roleplayer, I have to say that my attitude towards genderbending is that if one can play it right, let em. If someone can't... show them how it's done or tell them to play with someone else. |

Another thing, has anyone ever noticed how the majority of the Furcadian population are found on maps such as The Slave Pens. That map always has at least 40-60 people at a time! And there are other places like Kinky Kibble and Yiffy Mansion that are always full. I remember when furc was in the early stages there was hardly any yiffing or anything going on, and it was a big deal. Now everybody yiffs random people all the time and think nothing about it.

Presumably you went up to everybody and said to them, "Oi. Tell me, do you yiff anybody and everybody?"
I think that it may be that because of Furrabian Nights, things are more easily found. |

Let me just post here as both a male who plays lesbian characters, and gays as well, and as someone who spends a lot of time in The Slave Pens.
You're right, those dreams are mostly sex-based, but that's hat FurN is for, correct? And, putting that aside, not everyone is in there merely for the yiffing. Ok, a lot are, but there's many, and I know quite a few, that start serious storylines there. I know someone who was roleplaying some sort of dillusional god character who was going to build up a harem of slaves depicturing the seven sins and the seven virtues. He doesn't yiff, at all. As for me, I do, but it's always in a story. Someone walks round in TSP, don't know who, but in her desc it says that yiffing isn't the purpose, roleplay is. And I agree, the reason I go to TSP often is because I tend to find people I like in there, Out of character, that is. As to why I play lesbians? Or females, to begin with. It's harder, thus more challanging to play something you're not. It's that simple. I'm not into the entire slave/master thing, real life, but it's fun to roleplay, especially when you make stories around it. Jane fell in love with her slave and mated her. John fell in love with someone else's slave and had to buy her from him. Vivica was forced into it, but gained her freedom after being owned by a stripping manager. She's now insane, trying to find a babysitter slave for her dead daughter. There's very little sex involved in that... But yes, in general, you're right, there's a lot of people there for the sex, but those are mostly newbies. They'll grow out of it. Ah, and in case you were wondering, I'm 21, not 12 |

I RP in TSP a lot. Well, I used to, any way. It seems like all my usual RP partners have chosen this month to go on vacation, so I'm basically left high and dry and RP-less. Eek.
Any way, I preferr it when my RP is -not- completely sex-based. A hint is okay, but.. nah. In fact, usually when things heat up a bit, I OOCly ask my RP partner if we can fastforeward the scene- I mean, come on. The first time or two was all right, but after a while it just gets monotonous. Any way, RP's more fun when it's just RP, any way. So why do I hang out on the main FurN map? Mostly 'cause I haven't been able to find any main-map RP anywhere else (I'm a bit funky like that. I don't like guilds; they make me feel closed in...). Feh. Any way. Back to the point. Yeah, I'm a girl in real life. Yeah, my boyfriend's a girl too (... gee, what a phrase). So either way I'm queer. I have about 5 female characters, and around 60 male characters. Dudes are just more fun to play... |

I didn't know you were a girl Silas! Hehe. Personally, I love RPing in FurN (again, Youlanda will probably flame me for being a disgraceful and tasteless RPer but who cares?) because there's a lot more maturity there.
It's an R map, whoopie. I'm bisexual in real life, and a majority of my characters are bisexual, and are male. I probably have two serious female characters, and it's this one and Rozetto. I don't say anything regarding my sex in real life because the way I see it is this: You play with the character not the player. If they're good at what they do, yay for them. I really don't know why I'm making this post either. LOL. |
