Black Rain

I just wanted to know what the plans for the next feral is.
I've heard some furries talk of how they want equines as the next feral but, I personaly think that, that is going a bit too far. Equines are way to big to be a feral.

Anywho? Any thoughts or suggestions or whatnot?

I don't think that ferals should take over the game. Wasn't Furcadia's motto where the mythical beasts learned to walk on two, or something similar to it. A few ferrals is ok, but it's not really the direction the game was originally going.

My point exactly. Furcadia has lost it's roots over the years. Looks to me like Furcadia is going to become a four-legged MMOSG in less than 48 hours. sc.gif

I have seen some dreams that don't allow ferrals into the dream, and they are automatically ejected. I'm an oldschool Furcadian, I get kind of annoyed when I see these 4 legged things walking around the game...

I would assume adding more ferals would mean a skin change since the current skin's "digo" area is already filled to the brim.

Didn't we already have the "I hate ferals / I love ferals" argument back when the Wolvens came out?

Fact is that with about half the dreams in AI being patched to have feral avatars anyway, it was obvious there were players who wanted them. Just a marketing decision.

They may very well release more ferals, but notice they're also releasing more anthros. smile.gif

My take on the next ferian? I'd like to see a ferian dragon. wink.gif

I like how furcadia is now. I mean, yeah the motto is that the creatures learn how to walk on two legs, but does that mean that ALL of them do? Or just some of them?

Anyways, i would love to see a feral Cow ( No, only joking, I love the random choices X3)

This is the case with My dream, Furcadia Gardens. Although, Ferian Wolvens are able to enter freely. The others are given a one-way fare to the Vinca.

Furcadia won't be breaking its intention simply for the fact that the Ferian avatars are Digo Items and not free avatars.

By the definition of Ferians being unaccepted: Wings have no right to be in a world where "Furres have learned to walk on two legs" either as it offers the concept of flight to ground-based animals that aren't avian. Gryffes would be wholly unacceptable as well due to their being a hybridized Digo item.

Ferians have given Eiskenthdri the capability to, not only, spend less time patching hybridized classes into the visual lore, but also allow for streamlined character development in attaining those hybridized class states while benefiting Furcadia's monetary status. It's a win-win situation for roleplayers and animal lovers alike. A massive win-win.
People could alternatively consider Ferians to be nothing more than a travel form for Furres.

As for new Ferians: I wouldn't mind seeing Giraffes. Giraffes rock. Pity they'd be too tall. =)

I think if you hate the new ferals, you have the option to patch them out on the client side, or your dream. I personally have no prob with them.

I'm personally a diehard feral RPer, staff in feral dreams, and owner of my own feral dream. I personally think that if you're not crazy about the ferals,(like everyone else said) patch them out so you dont have to look at 'em. I probobly shouldn't even be talking on this thread since my opinion will always be "GO FERALS" but it's not like there isnt a ton of room on furc filled with anthro/medeval/war dreams, or with open space waiting for new dreams like that smile.gif

There appear to be at least three more Ferians, which includes equines and presumably foxes, in line for future release, if the present speci2 file is any indication.

I think it's safe to say that anything which heavily upsets some players' perception of how Furcadia is supposed to be will dislike those changes. This doesn't mean the changes are wrong, just that some players are resistant to changes they don't like.

Personally, I don't look at the "where animals learned to talk and stand on two legs" tagline quite as literally as other players do. That tagline could easily be taken as a metaphor for "animals who have learned to think and act like humans". Interpreted that way, Ferians would fit in, since they're not played as dumb beasts, but as furres who prefer four legs instead of two.

According to Charles Darwin, apes learnt to talk and walk on two legs, but they still exist in that form as well as our own, as humans.

So why shouldn't there be ferals? It stands to reason se.gif

There is a patch available on roamheart that is a ferian dragon and it's very nicely designed.

Yes, if you want to get technical, MOST of the requested avatars, including Ferians, can be found somewhere as a patch. A patch as opposed to an official avatar though...it's just not the same, y'know?

Yeh but patches are free and official avatars generally aren't.

This is from the 2005 Town Meeting log (easily found on Google):

QUOTE

Felorin: July Blue Fox asks on behalf of SilverCougar - do we plan to make feral avatars part of the game? We don't plan to do that, no. We're happy for people to patch their dreams to be humans, ferals, sci-fi, anime, or any other theme they want. But for the "built-in" parts fo the game, we're sticking to the world setting and continuity Talzhemir has created.

I was a little disappointed when they shirked the original continuity and made up a thin storyline to introduce ferals; I'm kind of an oldschool dork like that. Soon there'll be as many feral species as furre ones-- wings were always plausible to me, but I have been and always will be against the release of further ferians besides the 'basics' we have now.

(Though the Tygards are actually heart meltingly cute. But you didn't hear me say that! << >>;;)

That's kind of amusing. I think I read somewhere on here Emerald Flame saying that Ferrians were always part of their plan on here, and here is Felorin saying they weren't.
