Allright, I've had an idea, based upon some of the patches I've seen and whatnot. This is a petition I would like to start, concerning the additions of other animals to Furcadia, to give us more options and to expand the growing populations.
Furcadia is a mostly Mammal-based world, is it not? WOuldn't it be a nice change to see some nonmammals roaming the area? It would make for a good bit of flavor to the system, in my humble opinion. SO, with that said, I suggest that, should the creators of Furcadia give it any thought as to granting us another selectable species (As they did with lupines), they look upon this petition and all who signed it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am asking for a standard vote on how many of us would like to see the addition of Reptiles, or Saurions, to the mammalian Furcadia. There is already a patch in the software section that turns Lupines into Reptilians, so I am already aware that at least someone is interested in this sort of change. Should anyone of you agree with me on this topic, --I ask that you reply to me, stating your opinion on Reptiles in Furcadia, and why you hold that opinion.-- It is my hope that if we can accumulate enough positive member responce, and present it to the game designers, that Furcadia's next available species be the Reptilian.
Now I know it won't be immediate, these things take time, of course. But patience is the key. In this Democracy, only one thing can evoke a change in any system. That thing is YOU. Thank you for your time, and I hope to see your responces in the future.

Roar. DEP is a private company not a branch of the government. You cannot force them to do anything through petitions. All a petition can do is maybe persuade them a bit. I have heard the next race will be squirrels/skunks. DEP cannot possibly add every species that has been suggested, so they just add what they feel is good. It would be nice for them to listen to suggestions, and they do, but you cannot expect to force them to take a certain creative route. They are the professionals, they know what they are doing.

Sincerely,

Allright....let me re-word this since I obviously made it sound too much like a political petition. I am interested in how many furcadians would like....LIKE......to see reptilians as the next species.....if all this can do is persuade the creators a bit, then I've accomplished that much. If not, oh well, maybe next time. With that said,  can we start this off?

Funny...  I could've sworn Dragons were reptilian.

And birds... where do they fall exactly?

Birds tend to fall when they forget to fly.

I thought id run up and nip this in the bud before someone else points out the obvious and then tries to be all high and mighty, furcadia is furre.. fur not scales.. bla bla bla

Im sure more species will be added over time, hopefully not all of them pay-to-play.

What i want to see.. is several new species in the furcadian object list. More small flightless birds who are good for currency!

USE ANOTHER AVATAR THAT ALREADY EXISTS.

For instance.

Take the canine avatar. Apply green, brown, or what-have-you color.

In your desc, describe yourself as a reptile.

WALLA.

Why demand a new, useless avatar when you could do this just as easily? Yes, occasionally people will refer to you as a 'dog', or what have you, but all that takes is a little 'please look at my desc' to correct.

First of all there have allready been hundreds of topics on the forums with people asking for new avatars. If you're that desperate for new avatars then go make your own furc like game.
DEP is seemingly taking ages to do anything as it is and adding more avatars isn't all that simple a task. Furc has enough problems that need fixing first as it is.

ok.........I'll make one statement, and then this topic is yours to do with as you please......I've used other sepcies to be a reptilian before. But then I also used that patch mentioned in my first post. It change lupines into reptiles. You should really check it out to see what I mean. I don't want to add a 'useless' species to the game, and I know scalies aren't furries.....but they ARE anthropomorphic creatures, LIKE furries. DRAGONS aren't furries. Do dragons have fur? Nope. But can you get a dragon for free? nope. Out of let's see.....6 species I think....7 including Phoenix and excluding the already scalie dragon. So...7, yeah....Out of 7 species WITH fur.....soon to be 8 if they add squirrel/skunk/whatever.....I was only....ONLY curious. What would it be like if there was 1 species unlike the others. Just 1, ya know. no big deal. Just wondering if you thought it was cool, if it sucked, whatever. Ok, petition idea out the window. Gone. Shredded. Recycled. Look, all I want is an opinion. If its negative, ok. If it's positive, great, I  know I'm not the only lonely sauromaniac on this furry forum. Don't want any arguments, not asking to start a fight here.....just thinking out loud, like everyone else. Just thinking if that lupine to reptile patch.....wasn't a patch....if that was the actual species to select.....I'll shut up now.....and let you continue on with....whatever....I think i'll go let my iguanas out or....something.

What about Phoenixes. They don't have fur either. Or gryphons.
Though I'm pretty sure I that furries don't just have to have furr. There is the occastional acception for other anthro animals. You have to remember that the meaning for Furrie is a little fuzzy at times. It's not in the dictionary, there's no precice definition. Though personally I don't think we want anthro animals withought furr getting too comfortable with calling themselves furries.

I'm not really against reptiles as avatars eventuially. I'm not even going to bother commenting about the problems (On the technical side) of having extra avatars though.

actually... griffons DO have fur!!!

They are part lion afterall.

As for petitions, they are just pretty pieces of paper with names on it.  They are as easily dismissed as they are created.

The only thing I like about them is when I get to sign funny names!  I'm now offically Herbie Hancock!

A new avatar requires alot of artwork, and i think there are MUCH better features that can be added onto furc at this time -- skip the avatars, we already have ..5 or 6?  Plus the special ones.

20. "Could you add [this new Race] to Furcadia?"
--Furcadia has so few Races because every new Race adds considerably to the size of the download. Every second longer it goes is a moment in which the download might fail. If that happens, the downloader is more than 50% likely to give up on Furcadia forever.
The ones we have were chosen by going over FurryMUCK data. These six covers over 95% of FurryMUCK's population. If the Internet itself changes such that bandwidth is MUCH higher for even the slowest users, then we can consider adding others. My list is topped Skunks (stretchable for squirrels, etc.), Cows, Deer, Bugges, and Avians ("Byrddes").
Although I normally appreciate input, your suggestion for what to add next will probably fall on deaf ears until all five of the above are completed and added.

Actually, some dragons do have fur.

And I believe the way Furcadia chooses what species comes is the basic overall demand for them.  Such as the demand for squirrels/skunks and bears; I believe this is the first time I've seen someone ask for a reptile avatar.

And phoes don't have fur.   :p  They're birdies.  Birdies have feathers, not fur.

It upsets me whenever I read perfectly polite suggestions like this, and a bunch of people jump down their throat. It's the Suggestions board, everyone can offer theirs! Just because you don't agree doesn't mean they aren't allowed to express the ideas they think would be cool. Bleah. It's not even like they were rude about it, or demanding with the use of threats and swear words that we get reptiles.

:/ This i smost certainly NOT the first time I have heard a reptilian creature be mentioned. A lot of Roleplayers I know would love one, and I have heard them being spoken of many a time. I have also never heard a squirrel, deer or bear or something along those lines being requested, or even mention before.

Just letting you know you're not the only one, even if I don't care one way or another. :)

I can't remember where I read this, but in Furcadia, mammals are supposed to take the place of humans.  In our world we tend to see ourselves as superior to the other species on the planet, and are the caretakers of them.  The same with Furres in Furcadia.  Reptiles, insects and birds and such are supposed to be "lower" on the scale of things... just my two cents.
