...My appologies if someone's made the suggestion before, but I've had the idea running around in my head for some time now. I'm currently the holder of two anthro bat alts, and really the closest thing to a bat I can get is the tiny feral one used at the holidays and... well. The Rodent default avatar. (Not 'bat' enough for my tastes.)
I just think it'd be oodles of fun to see large-eared, pointy nosed bats waltzing around- whether they be in the recent 'noble' forms or simply a default. And, considering bats have wings, they could be inclusive by having them attached to the undersides of the arm. So it's realistically worked as opposed to having to have the bat wing digos to complete the ensemble. (: EDIT: I drew some little batty concept doodles. Just for fun. (: Clicky! |

Flight is something that the Digo Market sells. I don't think there will be any default avatars that have wings.

I would like to see an anthro bat av made for the free section. It would be interesting and, certainly would bring a lot of interesting roleplaying into Furcadia.

Archery, I myself wouldn't mind. But how could a Bat anthro grab items if the wings were attached to the underside of their arms? Or get dressed even?
I myself own a couple of bat characters in a Dragonlands Continuity dream (one is half vampire bat, the other is full-blooded fruit bat). I RP them with having not only a set of wings, but also having arms, like most anthromorphs should be played. As far as the Avatar idea goes... We really need bats (and not just the little animals we get once a year on DM). Lots of people are getting into playing them. |

This is always a tricky suggestion 'cause anatomically correct bats, along with birds, are something people have wanted for a long time - however, it is often stated that "flight" creatures are unique to Digo Market. Unfortunately, there really are a lot of people who want birds and bats that don't have back wings or are feral and those are a couple basic family groups. I myself would love to see a "camelid" group! I can use Bovine or Equine for now, but it's still yet another small group we lack that attachments alone could not fix.
That being said, I would like to think that correctly formed "arm wings" rather than a six-limbed creature as seen in Digo Market would be appropriate for free avatars! |

I've been playing a bat for over a decade myself, and while I have to make-do with the mouse avatar for most maps, on my own maps I can use this excellent avatar patch made by Ami noMiko many years ago: http://www.furcadia.com/patches/zip/AminoMiko_bats.zip I've edited it to work as a localspecies, and it should be easy enough for you to do the same. It even comes complete with some great portraits, if you don't have your own personal portraits for your characters!
Anyhow, on the subject of making bats into an official avatar: I'd honestly prefer that we remain a rare breed. I think that non-standard species add some flare to the game, and so I don't really need to see a bunch of new avatars added to the game to represent every niche species. |

QUOTE Ever tried a rodent with bat wings? I have that right now on a character. And it looks like... a mouse with bat wings. Not a bat. xD QUOTE Flight is something that the Digo Market sells. I don't think there will be any default avatars that have wings. Maybe you'll be able to make a battier avatar when attachments come out. I can see what you mean. In which case perhaps even a digo bat (anthro) avatar might be appropriate if it was designed with wings? (: QUOTE Archery, I myself wouldn't mind. But how could a Bat anthro grab items if the wings were attached to the underside of their arms? Or get dressed even? How does the Unicorn avatars wear clothes or pick up items if it has hooves for hands? It'd be pretty danged hard. I think, considering what furcadia is all about, we can come up with enough creativity to come up with how it'd wear clothing. xD After all, it doesn't necessarily have to be logical- I've personally never seen dog and cat people walking around in clothes. And, well... everybody in furcadia is an unrealistic character! (Which is what makes it fun!) QUOTE That being said, I would like to think that correctly formed "arm wings" rather than a six-limbed creature as seen in Digo Market would be appropriate for free avatars! Hehe, certainly! Although I must admit that seeing an arm-winged bat avatar with triwings on it might be odd, perhaps that's even more reason to lean towards a digo market item option as opposed to something free. Such as the nobles. Which, right now, can't have wings. And eventually when the patches came out to have additional wings and the like, it may even open up roleplay options to creatures such as cherubims. (: (Just brainstorming, here. xD) QUOTE I've been playing a bat for over a decade myself, and while I have to make-do with the mouse avatar for most maps, on my own maps I can use this excellent avatar patch made by Ami noMiko many years ago: http://www.furcadia.com/patches/zip/AminoMiko_bats.zip I've edited it to work as a localspecies, and it should be easy enough for you to do the same.
