i think you should sell spots that cost as much as a dragon
but they can make there own patch for it but no speical effect like a dragon it would be neat cause if i wanted a cape i could have one or if somone wanted a dragon ball z player they could .i just think that would be a good idea. Super Vegitto. ![]() |

No.
It would be a very bad idea. FIrst, you would get the jerks who would try to simply make their avatar as big and eyecatching as possible, detracting from everyone else's enjoyment of Furc. Second, unless they charged that on a regular basis, people who use it to get a dragon avatar. (Portrait space, which are comparable, are a pay-once deal.) Third, lag. Portrait spaces only load when you click on someone. An avatar would have to load every time you see someone. Now, if you click on someone and they have a portrait, you can wait for the portrait to load before clicking on anyone else. But you have no control over the walking of the person with the special avatar. Note that avatar patches are larger than portraits. Fourth: What do you look like if there's a download error or before the avatar downloads? I would assume the original avatar, but some people wouldn't be happy with that. Fifth : Avatar patches are harder to make than portrait patches. Thus, you'd see a lot more plagarism. Sixth: People would undoubtedly use this to create human characters. It seems to be a design choice of the Furcadia staff to keep the world anthromorphic. Also, there'd be more attempts to get innappropriate avatars through - and with more images to check than with portrait spaces, approval time would be slower and take more effort from the limited staff time. Would you like to see Furc stop developing in order to spend all their time checking avatar patches? Seventh: Be creative. You can write in your desc that you're wearing a cape. You can even write in your desc that you like DBZ a lot and that you're just like Goku only even MORE powerful! But then, expect a lot of people to laugh at you. But assuming literacy on both your part and the part of the people you're chatting with, a cape written into a desc works better than a cape on an avatar. Now, I have this character with fiery red eyes. I realized that people were ignoring the fact she just has these globes of fire for eyes and bought her a portrait space, wherein I gave her said eyes. Did it help a bit? No. Even when people compliment her on the portrait, they go on RPing as though she was completely normal. No one ever asks her. No one ever looks surprised or shocked or wonders how it happened. So even if you were running around with a cape, you'd better believe no one would pay ANY attention to it. What I think Furcadia should do is allow you to specify a second avatar type, some text identifier. Then, everyone's client checks to see if they have a patch witht that identifier installed - if they do, you display as that avatar on the computers of the people that have that patch. If you don't, then you display as the default one. This would allow you to show as DBZ Cape Guy to your friends - you'd just have to give them your patch - and not ask the rest of the world to care. |

Heh... when I was new to furc I thought that same thing. But then I thought you would need to download all those frames and everything, so I just decided to write a pretty good desc, and just bring things up as I roleplayed, like if I had a cape, I could go:
Mudon Witfar sits down on his long flowing cape, adjusting it before he sits. Then anyone who actually cares will read it, and know about the cape. |

If you want to make a post that's almost for certain been suggested before, search for it and add to the already created thread if you must. |

Another attempt to get human species on Furcadia has failed.
