Maybe AC's 2010 theme is starting to get to me but I just had a new idea somewhat on a species I may start playing that scientists who study prehistoric mammals call an amphicyon or bear-dog or bear-wolf. Basically you take a grizzly and swap out the head and tail for that of a wolf. I wonder how this would translate into the furry community...

It would be cool to get some prehistoric ferian avatars. Imagine walking around the Wyld and spotting a woolie mammoth, or a giant ground sloth! Watch out for those saber toothed cats, and dire wolves, though. And actually, dire wolves are already plausible with Wolvens (especially considering their large size against the regular avatars).
As awesome as this would be, I'm eager to see more extant species added first. |

I'm more thinking of a combination of existing avatars. Like putting the head and tail of a male canine on the body of a male ursine. But I'm also waiting for the noble ursine to come out.

Meshing avs into half bear and half dog isn't really prehistoric at all. It's just a mesh of a dog and a bear. If you're going to make prehistorics an av, might as well do it right and do the actual animal. Amphicyons are "described" as being bear-dogs, but so far this is the actual picture we seem to have for what they looked like. http://www.fossil-treasures-of-florida.com...s/amphicyon.jpg From what I can tell this is a fairly accurate possible depiction considering the actual skeleton. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...cyon_ingens.JPG
Although the size of prehisotrics might make some players grumpy he way that the werewolf does presently. Still, originality is where it's at, I'd rather have an amphicyon than a dire wolf simply because it's over used and nobody bothers to do actual research any more. |
