Springtime is coming, and with it, comes Jujinka's Spring Festival! All furres are invited to help Jujinka bring in the Spring, March 20th in the Spring Festival dream in the Festival Grounds. This festival is about persona play, meaning everyone should come in character prepared for a Medieval Spring Festival. There will be spring events including games, egg hunts, booths, and Maypole dancing.
The theme this year is 'Bloom', and we are hoping to see many people take full advantage of the theme in their works and events. As always, there are contests for just about everyone! With a Dreaming Contest, an Animated Portrait Contest, a Haiku contest, and a new 'Blooming With Friends' Contest (a new type of contest that rewards you for bringing your friends to Furcadia!)--something is bound to strike your fancy! In our last Festival, we gave away over 2,000 golden dragonscales in prizes! Check out: http://furcadia.com/spring/ for more information, and happy dreaming! |

Who do I ask to make sure my portrait for the contest is within the E8/teen limits? I have one started and want to be sure it's OK before I go much further. I know it probably is, but it's better safe than sorry. I'd post things here but I don't want to give it away yet.

So, I take it we just submit the list of names and origins for the Blooming New Friends Contest by the deadline, and that's all?

Thanks for the reply, though it's mostly that I had a specific question: I have a satyr male in the picture. No nipples are depicted but I did bother adding in muscles. Edit: Thanks for the confirmation! |

The guidelines for haikus say the haikus are three-line poems, but it also says that they can be multiple stanzas long. Does that mean, for this contest, that each stanza should be three lines long, but how many stanzas doesn't matter?

For everyone having trouble counting syllables:
http://www.wordcalc.com/ is a site that helps you counting the syllables. Just type in a word or a line of your haiku and click the button. That's a big help especially for everyone not having English as their primary language. |

I wonder too. How long can how poems be? How many stanzas can we have?

Hey there - I am also curious as to how many stanzas we can have.
Also, where is the entry list? The Spring Festival page makes reference to entry pages where entries are listed but I can't find a link to it anywhere. Thanks, Dreamer |

Random question: the page says everything is due by 11:59pm FST on April 14h, but the first post says the festival begins march 20. Does this mean the entries are arriving almost a month after the festival starts?

The Spring Festival page makes reference to entry pages where entries are listed but I can't find a link to it anywhere Thanks, Dreamer Longform haiku is multiple stanzas of the same three line form, following the same rules. That being the case, you may have multiple stanzas. Please note that a longer poem is not necessarily 'better', so please use your judgment. Entry pages go up when the scribes have a sufficent amount of entries that have been prejudged--which is not the case yet. |

Am I missing something or are there no specific details for the "Bloom" theme? The dreams should just be based around the imagery presented by the concept of "Bloom"?

Gar gives some ideas to base your dreams on. You can read the Dream Contest Guide gives more thoughts on making dreams. You also need to use at least some of the new Message DS in your dream entry. |

Hello my dears,
I, Madame Tarot invite you to have your fortunes read during the festival. I shall be popping up randomly so feel free to approach me... that is, if you are brave enough to know what your future holds... *cackles madly and dissapears in a puff of smoke* (Randomly means whenever I'm not working, asleep or when there are others around as being a UK furre sucks, also I can't really tell your fortune due to the limitations of the internet, I do a little tarot IRL, so don't blame me if you don't like the cards |

The haiku thing-
I have been having a look around cos I was wondering a little about your syllable requirements. I thought they were a little strict. Reading up on it, Haiku is 3 lines maximum, less than 17 syllables in total. I have written a few and they all ended up being a little off the mark each line but fine in other respects. |

Cynthia, I thought I'd post this as it may help a little - this is dictionary.com's definition of a haiku.
1.a major form of Japanese verse, written in 17 syllables divided into 3 lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables, and employing highly evocative allusions and comparisons, often on the subject of nature or one of the seasons. |
