Hello, Furres!

We are inviting everyone to a brand-new Furcadia event created by Xxysthstris and hosted by the Eventers and Guardians!

Social Evenings are an excellent opportunity to platonically connect with other players on a face-to-face level. They are an interactive and personal addition to our other social resources such as the Furcadia Community Forums, Naia Green’s FluFF Pit, Groups and Guilds Day, Fun Events and Dream Showcasing. And everyone can attend: old, new and returning players are all welcome! You are welcome!

Beginning this Saturday, the 7th of September, Social Evenings will be scheduled for the First and Last Saturdays of every month, starting at 4:30p.m. FST. They continue on all evening and you can stay as long as you want! Each have their separate behavior/content standards to cover all areas of Furcadia, and each rating has its specific map in which it will be held:

Meovanni Village; Mycroft’s Cafe and Leo Park: for Social Evenings which everyone can attend!
Olde Town; Cafe Rooftop and The Cat’s Meow: for Social Evenings for the adults to attend!

(When there are other official events scheduled, such as Groups and Guilds Day or other cool eventy things, the Social Evenings won't take place!!)

During our Social Evenings, all players are invited to meet and socialise in a casually fun and relaxed environment where they can discover new friends or groups to regularly socialise with, find other interested roleplayers, and connect with special interest groups such as Dreamweavers and Patchers. For those who are new to Furcadia, it’s also a great opportunity to learn more about what Furcadia is all about!

You don’t have to stay for the entire evening, either! Stay as long as you have fun! If you find yourself truly connecting with other players and are ready to go spend time with them: you’re absolutely free to do so!

We have a few games prepared to help build exciting social ties between players by building upon familiarity between individuals and groups, making it easy to find and connect with people sharing or seeking similar interests! Oh yes, and there will be noms! Mmm.. noms. #ST

We do realise that some players may be a little shy about speaking out in large groups, so we are adding a ‘Buddy System’ to help build social confidence in people by giving them someone to talk to, even in whisper. Please don’t go AFK thinking you won’t add to the fun, because it's guaranteed that you will so long as you’re willing to give it a go! smile.gif

Hope to see you there!

F.A.Q: (Have a question you feel needs answering? Let me know!)

The First and Last Saturday of each month at 4:30p.m.FST, how will I keep track?
It'll be on the Events calendar for you to see! We'll also make News announcements about it, too. smile.gif

Do I have to stick around all evening, or can I go off and explore or roleplay with my new-found friends?
You most certainly can go off and explore at any point in time, if you like. We encourage you to do so, in fact! Do us a favour though: If you go off and explore, take a screenshot and share with us your experiences! (PG-13 content only, please!) Should you wish to return to the Social Evening later on, you can do that too! It is an open door event. smile.gif

I'm a little anxious about talking in large groups...
We want to make everyone attending feel comfortable without detracting from their involvement (because not having you take part would make us sad sad.gif). To help people out, we've opted to using a Buddy System where you can confidentially whisper one of our volunteers anything you feel uncertain about before posting it publicly. Of course, we'll be encouraging interaction in the hopes it'll help develop your social confidence. smile.gif

Will my more personal responses be posted over the =Fun or =Event channel?
No. We will be using the =Fun and =Event channels to let players know what's going on and to include players from outside the map to tune in and take part in responding to conversational subjects or even to offer places of interest (within reason).

Will Social Evenings be Streamed over the Furcadia Twitch channel?
Nope! Streaming Social Evenings would default all content ratings to PG-13 regardless of the map ratings, and we'd like to keep this as casual and relaxed as possible for everyone attending.

Can I ask questions?
Please do! We love questions! However, please understand that some questions we cannot answer for various reasons, either that the answers are already available (in which case: we'll direct you to them) or that the answers are not yet set in stone and therefore are not fact.

Is this some sort of dating service?
Nope! This is not, nor was ever intended to be a dating service (hence, 'Platonically'). There's no pressure, here.

I attended the Social Evenings and would like to make a suggestion, can I?
Absolutely! If there's any one thing we can do, it's improve upon something to make it easier (and better) for everyone involved. When making a suggestion, please be constructive and detail your idea in full. smile.gif

Will you host a Social Evening that is more accessible for those in Europe and the UK?
We've brainstormed on times to try and include everyone in Furcadia. If we can, we'll try and get a European and UK time slot going (no promises, sorry!).

What are these networking games about?
One of the games we have planned is used in entry-level Psychology and focuses around building familiarities amongst people on a non-invasive level. It's all about applied observation and memory, and can be a lot of fun!

If I make friends through these Social Evenings, can I still attend future Social Evenings?
Absolutely! We'd love to have you come back and meet new players and chatter with familiar names. smile.gif

I'm a Beekin (Welcomer, Helper, Pixel, Mason, Bugge, Guardian, AIC), can I attend too? (Thanks for asking this, Thom!)
You're absolutely welcome to! This is a relaxed social event for everyone. smile.gif

I'm not seeing this event on the Community Calendar or the Beekin Events Calendar. Is there another calendar?

We're on again, this time in Meovanni Village, which is for everyone! So if you're new to Furcadia, are a returning player or simply a regular patron wanting wanting to meet and mingle with other players, both young and old, in a relaxed and social environment, this would be an excellent opportunity to do so!

When: Saturday, 5th September, starting at 4:30p.m. FST
Where: Leo Park in Meovanni Village.

Make sure your =Fun channel is enabled. smile.gif

See you there!

(This sole post will be updated per the event time, date and location to reduce the spam of future updates.)
