My friend first came to Furcadia today, and her first thing was: "There should be Gibbons"

That is why I suggest that the new 'everyone' avatar should be monkeys/gibbons. How cool would that be?  :D

I dunno...

Monkies can do some pretty wierd things.

Then again..
We could train them to be purse shatchers, or perhaps have DS in the main maps that will force all Gibbon avatars to dance to the tune of a music box.

Every time I see monkeys brought up as a possible species, I recall hearing that monkeys and many other primates are too close to humans for use as furres.

I agree with Merle.
Furcadia is escapeism from this reality, that is what makes it so 'magical' as DEP puts it.
ALSO
I agree with the other post.
Remember the lapine edition? All these idiots running around and humping furres and items... (lapines are only just recovering respect as a normal avatar. (if you ask me that is)). Can you imagine the annoying chaos of idiots running around in monkey form?!

Arden shudders and hides from the thaught, in his Seribi's soft, furre hug.

Sun Wukong and Hanuman give monkeys four thumbs up!

But gibbons aren't monkeys and they creep everyone out by scratching the soles of their feet without bending over.

It would be keen and I'd rather see it than a Lapine or a Squirrel.

Wouldn't have that problem with Gorillas. Gorillas, as mentioned before, are keen.

Heard that arguement before, however, it still would be a mammal animal that is mildly popular around Furcadia (or as far as I know). And I was thinking more along the lines of King Kong tongue.gif.

Talzhemir made some big gorilla avatars that are pretty cool. Gorillas are ferral though and Furcadia usually does anthro animals. An anthro ape is a human.

If I could get my hands on that avatar patch, I could put it to good use.

I would like to see a monkey or ape avatar, but I don't think it's high on the list of avatars in demand. I believe that bovines (cows) and ursines (bears) are next.

As an aside, I think you could make an anthro monkey or ape without making a human: just have it walk perfectly on two legs and wear clothes.

Reminds me of a very hairy human. OK I'm going to have to dip my mind in alchol now.

heh, zombie thread.

yeah, since furres are anthro' (humanoid) animals, an anthro' monkey or gorilla would be really close to a human. People would probably use them as humans, which is fine, but that's not what furc is about. Maybe something less humanish like lemurs would work?
