Got the school-dance-cancelled-due-to-Swine-Flu blues?

That anti-bacterial hand soap that continues to fly off the grocery and pharmacy shelves can be part of the solution...

This solution I propose is a literal one: 4 teaspoons any clear liquid anti-bacterial soap intended for washing hands, and, 1 cup warm water. Mix gently.

1 cup water:

Paper cones are the BEST tool for blowing bubbles, especially if you like them biiiiig.

Cut a piece of ordinary 8 1/2" X 11" ("letter size") paper in half.
Make a cone about as long as your hand, with a pinky-size hole at one end and a quarter-size hole at the other end.

Use transparent tape to close off the side.

Tape once around the smaller end.

Then, snip once across the wide end.

Take deep breath. Dip wide end of cone in fluid. Exhale. Inhale through nostrils, filling lungs from the bottom upwards. Push your navel forwards as far as it will go, and expand your chest while standing straight, to get the deepest breaths.

Take a quick step backwards to free your bubble.

* Remember that Swine Flu is a *virus*. Viruses are protein encapsulated in grease. They can't stand soap. =)

When you finally get tired of blowing bubbles, use your nifty soap solution and a washcloth to wipe down areas around office and home. Wipe them dry but don't rinse them. Here's a few ideas:
  • all counter-tops
  • all doorknobs and surrounding areas
  • all light switches and surrounding areas
  • your computer keyboard
  • your computer monitor
  • the refrigerator
  • telephones (be very careful not to get them soggy!)
  • pencils and pens

Post your own soap bubble pictures here!

(Before you post any links to web pages, please think twice; WE can all Google too.)
