I been on furcadia for at least 15 years, and it's never been this bad before, furcadia never used to keep disconnecting on me, but these last few years it's been relentless. At random times the connection would just stop with the message 'Connection Lost' and 'Winsock error: Unkown WSA error code. ( 0 )' would appear in the errors.txt log, used to be once every few days but has now increased to at least 5-7 times a day it is really negatively effecting my enjoyment of furcadia.
My internet connection is very stable, I have cable modem with my computer being directly connected to it by ethernet, and my kaspersky firewall is granting furcadia full access, so there should be no reason for the disconnects. I have Secondlife and that has zero disconnects and I have that logged in for the same length of time I'm on furcadia, so I know my connection is solid. I've tried turning off logs to see if that's the cause but it makes no difference, I've tried different ports in the settings. I've tried unticking periodic auto-ping but that makes it worse for instead of immediately disconnecting, that just causes furcadia to freeze and I'm not even aware it's frozen until I try to move or say something.
I'm out of ideas, any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hey! What are your AFK settings for the furre?
Does this only happen when you stay in a particular dream? Does it happen if you relocate to another dream or main, such as Vinca or Naia Green?

One more question - what other programs do you have running on your computer alongside Furcadia? I'm thinking of more invasive, desktop-altering programs like WindowBlinds in particular, since this one was known to negatively affect Furcadia in the past.

Yet another question - you describe that you get `At random times the connection would just stop with the message 'Connection Lost' and 'Winsock error: Unkown WSA error code. ( 0 )' would appear in the errors.txt log` which looks like connection issues, and the client is still working and interactive (you can switch tabs, move mouse around and highlight people with it, etc., etc.). Is this correct? Or does the whole client crash, hang, stop responding?
Also, what is your TLS (Transport Layer Security) setting? Is your connection to Furcadia servers encrypted?

All my afk settings are turned off, but I make sure to move every now and then to prevent furcadia from timing out or anything. I switch between a few characters but they usually just stay in one dream (both hang out in different dreams though), don't really travel around much. Don't really have much programs running in the background, just my firewall, discord, have display fusion which manages the desktops background allowing me to have a different image per screen but it unlikely that is causing any issues.
When it disconnects it simply says it's disconnected and the button appears on the bottom left 'reconnect' I believe it is, so yeah replaces the tabs and nothing is clickable on the main screen. If I turn off auto-ping that's when it freezes, tabs work but moving, typing or clicking on the main windows stops working and not long after that it then changes to the 'reconnect' screen. TLS is currently set to on, with 'don't warn me and connect anyway' being selected.

Are you able to try the other two options?
Also, are you able to do a test for me? Put only one alt of yours online in Naia Green and see if they nonetheless disconnect.
Also, are you able to check if disabling Display Fusion solves your issue?

Takala Madaska ,
Another thing you could try, Restart the router and the PC.

I've tried all TLS options, with displayfusion being closed along with some other none essential software and it still disconnects as often, also tried running task managers Ethernet monitor graph to see if the network goes down around the time of the disconnects, but is very hard to catch it I'll keep trying but considering secondlife continues to remain connected then I'm convinced it's something else causing it.

I've rebooted both many times over the last 5 or so years since having this issue, I've even at some point last year done a clean install of windows 10 and it still happens.

I just realised, my computer does have 2 ethernet inputs, one is the onboard one I'm currently using and the other is on a network card I used to use to allow my xbox 360 to connect to the internet, I could try connecting to the internet through that one instead to see if that makes a difference.

Ah Could well be a networking issue maybe a conflict,
Take it the XBox is Piggy backing off the pc to access the net?

I said it used to be for the xbox 360, I stopped using the port after I got an xbox one, so there should be no conflict issues now.

Ok seems using the alternative Ethernet on my computer makes no difference, I'm out of options and ideas. it seems obvious to me that furcadia is more susceptible to disconnects and none perfect connections, whereas other virtual worlds are able to handle them like secondlife, maybe I should just focus on what works for me, no point staying on something that makes me want to pull my hair out every time it disconnects for no reason.

Let's see if using the new web client solves the issue for you.
Please open a help ticket asking for access to the web client and link to this forum thread. Once you are logged into it, check if you are capable of using Furcadia normally, or if the connection still breaks for you.

Hello Takala,
I am going to suggest we use a program called "WireShark" to help us figure out what is going on for you. Once this is set up and ran, than when the disconnections occur, it will allow us to analyze what is happening to cause the disconnection. I will reach back out to you with instructions for download and set up either a bit later today or in the morning, as I have to get ready for work shortly.
Thank you,

Ok seems my computer isn't directly connected to the modem, it goes from the modem then through a router in the roof space then from that to my computer, seems it's left over from a time when my siblings lived with us and all needed their own wired connection to the modem. I am however the only person that is still connected to this router, all the other connections are unused, I will try bypassing the router with an ethernet coupler, but I won't be able to afford one until next weekend, in the meantime I'm going to try testing furcadia on my laptop and see if the disconnects still happen on wifi.

I'd like to try that program, after all if it was simply a connection issue then both instances of furcadia should log out at the same time but that never happens, it's either one or the other and sometimes one instance more than the other, meaning it has to be something else that is causing the disconnects and that program might reveal it.

Ok I've bypassed the router in the loft, boosted my download speed three fold in the process. I also tested furcadia on the laptop and although there are still occasional disconnects it isn't as bad as the main computer. However despite bypassing the router, the main computer is still randomly disconnecting as frequently. Testing it using that WireShark software is my only option now, please someone help me set it up so I can work out why it's disconnecting.

First off, I want to extend my apologies in not responding promptly. I have been studying for my ICND 2 Exam (Cisco Networking Certification).
However, now that it is done, I can loop back to this. Do you have time Tuesday and I can walk you through this? I am in the EST time zone and will be available most of the day.
Thank you,

Thanks,
I already did, but I appreciate the sentiment. Unforunately, my work schedule got changed, so I am no longer off today, but, all is not lost, I'll provide with a tutorial that will at least get Wireshark up and running to get the info we need. And it will have pictures, we all love pictures, right? Good, onto the fun stuff.
First thing we need to do is install Wireshark, you can get it at
https://www.wireshark.org/#downloadNaturally, select what goes with your type of computer. If you aren't sure what type of processor (64 or 32 bit) you have, you can open the Control Panel, masteke sure the view in the upper right says Large Icons, if not, change it to that. Than click on System, under System Type it will tell you, it will say 64-bit or 32-bit operating system. If you have 64-bit, you get the 64-bit type, if not, you get the 32-bit. After that, you'll let it start installing, stick with the default (although if you don't want it on the desktop, you can off check that, but you need it in the start menu), than go through the rest as default. Make sure you install Win Pcap (it will be an option during the install process) or it won't work.
Once it's installed, it'll open to a window like this:
https://i.imgur.com/qkkD3l4.pngClick on the appropriate network interface you wish to capture from. After that, click on Capture, than Options. You'll see a screen that looks like this:
https://i.imgur.com/tKodVR2.pngAfter that, just click start, it will run, leave it running until you get a disconnect, than stop it. Save that file by click File, Save As and than save it somewhere you can find it. Ideally, having a few of them would help us. So you'll have to start a new one using the process I just gave you, but once you have a few, you can email them to helpers@furcadia.com and I'll get it out there for us to look it.
Thanks,
Zyber

It's taken a while but I've managed to get at least 8 however because the disconnects can take a while the files sizes are at least 40MB (although one is 9 and another is 25), which is more than the Hotmail's 10MB per attachment limit, is there another method I can use to send you the files?
